The Italian firm XEV recently unveiled the YOYO, an intriguing electric car that will compete with offerings like the Silence S04. This small electric city car will have an appealing starting price of 12,987 euros.
The new YOYO electric city car measures 2.53 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, and 1.56 meters high. It will also feature a 180-liter trunk, outperforming comparable electric quadricycles like the Renault Twizy 80, which has been on the electric car market for a staggering ten years.
The XEV YOYO is pitched as a comfortable and vibrant solution in terms of aesthetics. The YOYO prototype was manufactured using 3D printers: the whole body, dashboard, center console, door panels, and interior trim were all made with this technology, which expands the options for customizing the vehicle and producing lighter and more durable parts.
The interior has a simple but appealing design. The digital instrumentation is positioned in the middle of the dashboard, attempting to mimic the floating touch displays' appearance; close is the smartphone support that will allow us to use our smartphone as an infotainment system. Keyless entry, air conditioning, electric windows, a Bluetooth music system, electrically adjustable mirrors, and a panoramic roof are noteworthy features.
Its electric engine produces 15 kW (the highest allowed in its class) and 32 Nm, which, while modest, are more than adequate for a vehicle weighing just 522 kg. Moreover, although its highest speed is limited to 65 km/h in Eco mode, YOYO can reach 90 km/h in Sport mode, making it appropriate for excursions outside the city.
Both axles of the XEV YOYO include disc brakes, as well as ABS. On the other hand, it comes with three 24 kilogram detachable battery packs (72 kg in total). In addition, it has LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery cells that are flame retardant. The three battery set has a total capacity of 10.3 kWh and a range of 160 kilometers.
The XEV YOYO electric quadricycle owners can exchange their batteries for others charged at service stations in just four minutes. The small electric city car also includes an internal 2 kW charger and a Type 2 socket. @via XEV.
By the way, to give you a sense of the pricing, the RENAULT TWIZY Expression starts at 14,220 euros.
