As is the case with most automakers, Honda is developing a new generation of electric cars, with ambitious goals for a zero-emissions future. Honda will unveil the Prologue, an all-electric SUV, in 2024, as the company's first battery-electric vehicle. The 2024 Honda Prologue aims to alter the image of the Japanese carmaker as a new player in EV innovation.

General Motors and Honda have formed a joint venture to develop future electric vehicles. General Motors will develop the engines and platform, while Honda will design the body and interiors. The Honda Prologue will compete against the Acura, and the two vehicles will share battery systems. Both SUVs will be built on the BEV3 electric vehicle design and utilize the Ultium battery system. Thus, with General Motors and Honda sharing platforms, prices for all-electric car components would be reduced. The electric SUVs will be built in North America in a General Motors site dedicated only to electric vehicle manufacture.

Presume the Honda Prologue shares a base with the Cadillac Lyriq premium electric SUV. In that case, as is predicted, the Ultium battery will be coupled to a single rear-mounted permanent magnet electric motor. The Honda Prologue will produce 340 hp and 325 Nm of torque. An all-wheel-drive system is predicted for the 2024 Honda Prologue, as it will be an electric SUV.
